PECS : Cultural Package

Daytrip to Eupen, Henri-Chapelle, Trois Bornes

The American cemetery of Henri-Chapelle, the biggest one in Belgium, contains graves of American soldiers who died in the Ardennes or in Germany during the Second World War. The white marble crosses or stones carved with the Star of David for Jewish men converge on the memorial which contains a small museum.

The Jacques chocolate factory in Eupen has a Chocolate Museum telling you the story of chocolate through documentation on the cultivation of the cocoa bean, a video presentation and collections of diverse objects. We will see the production hall where chocolate makers are producing the Jacques chocolate sticks and bars. At the end of the visit we will be able to discover and purchase cheap Jacques products in the 'Chocolate House'.

"Trois Bornes" is a wooded plateau on which the borders of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet. There is a wonderful panoramic view of the region from the top of the Tour Baudouin, a tall metal construction. When the weather is good, we will be able to see the urban area of Aachen and the forests of the German Eifel as well as Maastricht in the distance and wooded hillsides.

A visit to these three sites is included in your Cultural package.
